16th July 2014
Windsurfing: Felixstowe Dip
Wind Direction: SW
Wind Stength: 8-10kts
Surf / Sea State: Flat to lumpy
Air Temperature: sunny
Sea Temperature: warm
Weather: sunny
Max Speed: 9.1 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 10.2 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

Rushed down hoping to catch the sea breeze Squiz mentioned Monday and Tuesday. Pete phoned he was on his way. Rigged by 5.30 and Pete was out planning on his Phantom. But as I rigged the10kt wind was dropping..what a pain.
Took my old Phantom / 9.5 Tushy XR out for a rare run with Pete on his new Phantom / 9.5 Severne. Wind was now very light and the dock gauges were showing 8kts as we set off from the Dip to the docks inevitably in full race mode :)
I tried my waist harness for the first time with a large sail and its not good for support. You definitely cant sit and have a rest!! We had enough wind to hook in on the harness and drive the plate for the hard best to the docks.
Pete started drawing away from me in the first 200M so he hung around till level and off we went. Bad move Pete :) as I took full advantage.
The beat was hard as not enough wind but as we rounded the Fludyers he was still behind trying to sneak up high. Continued to give Pete crap wind covering wherever he went and made it to the dock point just in front.
The sea was now flatter and the wind very light and we knew the 2 mile or so run was not going to be pleasant. Pete sail was definitely too flat for the run, but hey I aint saying nothing:) Bagged mine off and it paid off as the wind disappear it was hard to stay on a run, so semi plated and reach/run back whilst Pete stayed on the dead run hugging the coastline. Think his flat sail held him back and I opened up a lead which he never closed. Knackered and glad to see land and the dip.
We played around with downhaul/outhaul settings on the Severne and gained a load of belly with an inch or so less off both, so I think I will be in the pooh next time we train..
Long or short board - windsurfing is crap in no wind..
